Clive Palmer and QNI Resources donate $15,000 to local scout group
The Woodlands Scout Group is the latest to benefit from Clive Palmer and QNI Resources, presented today with a $15,000 donation.
Group Leader, Alex Jenkins, said the donation would make a big difference for the Deeragun-based outfit, which is committed to forming strong bonds through teamwork and a common desire to ensure everyone becomes the best person they can be.
“The generous donation by QNI Resources and Clive Palmer will assist the Woodlands Scout Group with relocating our den to a nearby park in order to have access to permanent toilet and shower facilities,’’ Mr Jenkins said.
“This will allow us to better cater for increasing numbers of members using the scout den,’’ he said.
Woodlands Scout Group is part of the Queensland Branch of Scouts Australia and is in the Kennedy Region. The Woodlands Scout Group has been operating for more than 15 years, and consists of a joey mob, cub scout pack, scout troop and a venturer unit.
Scouts provides a program of fun and life skills training, conducting regular camps and other outdoor activities as well as observing Anzac and Remembrance Days.
Clive Palmer said QNI Resources was passionate about assisting worthy local causes in order to make Townsville great.
“The Woodlands Scout Group is an excellent local organisation teaching young North Queenslanders valuable life skills and inspiring them to be the best they can be,’’ Mr Palmer said.
“QNI Resources very much respects these values and we are happy to support the group so they can continue to work with Townsville’s youth.
“QNI Resources takes great pride in assisting local causes which is why it’s so important that the refinery returns to operation as soon as possible so we can continue to help the local community reach its full potential.
“We want to make Townsville great again. Let’s unite and be better,’’ Mr Palmer said.
QNI Resources have donated many millions of dollars to the Townsville community since 2010
