United Australia Party appoints Jen Sackley as North Queensland Secretary

Federal Leader of the United Australia Party, Clive Palmer, has announced the appointment of Jen Sackley to the position of North Queensland Secretary.

A long-time North Queensland resident and former candidate for the Palmer United Party, Ms Sackley will run the party offices in Townsville and Cairns while coordinating United Australia Party activities in the region.

Mr Palmer said Ms Sackley was a valuable addition to the party.

“With a degree majoring in social sciences and a masters in social work, along with experience in running both state and federal political campaigns, Jen is well placed to understand the needs of her community.

“She is the perfect choice as full time secretary of the North Queensland Branch, with a very strong commitment to giving struggling families a voice,’’ he said.

Ms Sackley’s extensive employment history includes work in domestic violence case management, indigenous welfare and child safety through her role at the Department of Communities.

A passionate member of her community and a Justice of the Peace, Ms Sackley has been both an organiser and participant in regional women’s business associations and actively takes part in many community or charity fundraising events such as The North Queensland Drought Appeal, NAIDOC Week and the Breast Cancer Walk.

“I’m very happy that the United Australia Party will have strong voice and highly visible presence in North Queensland,” Ms Sackley said.

“North Queensland families and their communities have a right to committed representation at all levels of government.

“It’s clear that North Queensland is not a priority for either the state or federal governments. People are suffering and they need a voice,” she said
