Leader of the Palmer United Party, Clive Palmer, said today that the frenzied personal attacks on him were disappointing for Australia.

“These attacks commenced when I was elected to Parliament as the establishment, both the Labor and Liberal parties and their supporters, reacted to protect the two party system,’’ Mr Palmer said.

“There has been little discussion or attack at any policies of our party or what we achieved in Parliament.

“Palmer United stopped the 2014 budget and saved this country from austerity,’’ Mr Palmer said.

“There is no truth or substance in the continuing false allegations and attacks against me. Personally I can understand how in the future Australians will not invest in their own country or seek to save jobs of other Australians considering the media coverage given to Queensland Nickel.

“Queensland Nickel has kept the North Queensland economy going following the decision by BHP to close operations in 2009.

“The Liberal and Labor parties are the same, they have no interest in democracy or doing what is best for Australians,’’ Mr Palmer said.
