Morrison’s callous cuts to Foodbank hurting our most vulnerable: Palmer
Federal leader of the United Australia Party Clive Palmer said today that if the Morrison government did not reverse its callous decision to cut funding to Foodbank, he would personally pay the amount withdrawn.
Mr Palmer has blasted Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s decision to cut $323,000 in annual funding to the charity which provides almost 70 million meals for hungry Australians per year.
“Foodbank is a deserving organisation which does an excellent job helping Australian families in need.
“With much of Australia feeling the devastating effects of drought, Foodbank is being relied upon more than ever.
“The Prime Minister needs to reverse its callous decision to slash almost half its funding to Foodbank just six weeks from Christmas. If it can’t find the heart to do so, I will personally pay the funds the Government has withdrawn in order to help the most vulnerable in our community,’’ Mr Palmer said.
“The Government needs to put Australia first and make Australia all it can be.
“When times are tough we need to pull together. Together we can achieve the extraordinary and make Australia great.”
