Clive Palmer and QNI Resources donate $15,000 to NQ Brolgas women’s football team
Clive Palmer and QNI Resources continue to help North Queensland residents chase their goals, donating $15,000 to Indigenous representative football team the NQ Brolgas.
Sean Brennan, Townsville PCYC Indigenous Sport and Recreation officer, said the funds would ensure the team could now attend the 2018 Australian Indigenous Football Championships in Brisbane in November.
“We would like to thank Mr Palmer and QNI Resources for this very generous sponsorship which will make a big difference to the lives of these young players and the community,’’ Mr Brennan said.
“We are passionate about maximising indigenous women’s football participation opportunities and are extremely thankful for the way QNI Resources works with and is committed to the local community as a strong contributor to the local economy,’’ he said.
Clive Palmer said QNI Resources was passionate about assisting worthy grass roots causes in order to make Townsville great.
“The Brolgas are showing that through hard work, pride, and good sportsmanship they can overcome all barriers,’’ Mr Palmer said.
“These are values that resonate very strongly with QNI Resources which is why we are pleased to contribute these funds to help give these young players every chance in life.
“QNI Resources takes great pride in assisting local causes which is why it’s so important that the refinery returns to operation as soon as possible so we can continue to help the local community reach its full potential.
“We want to make Townsville great again.’’ Mr Palmer said.
QNI Resources have donated millions of dollars to the Townsville community since 2010.
