Rudd a Victim of Murdoch Propaganda Campaign: Clive Palmer

Media release

Retiring former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd was the victim of a relentless and self-serving propaganda campaign from US citizen Rupert Murdoch’s Australian media interests, says Palmer United Party federal leader and Member for Fairfax, Clive Palmer.

“I sympathise with Kevin Rudd as he is retiring as a result of the personal attacks against him by the Murdoch press,” Mr Palmer said.

“He had no chance of winning the September federal election because of the propaganda campaign against him by the Murdoch newspapers around the country.

“Rupert Murdoch had an agenda to support Tony Abbott because he wants legislation to help him get control of the Ten television network.

“Kevin Rudd didn’t deserve to be savagely slandered by the Murdoch media interests.

“Mr Rudd served the nation honourably and he was devoted to serving the community for two decades.

“I wish him and his family well in his retirement from politics.”
