The federal leader of the Palmer United Party and Member for Fairfax, Clive Palmer, says the Abbott government has lost the growth agenda and overstated the debt problem to the detriment of all Australians.
“In the boom years of the Menzies government, debt was 40 per cent of GDP,” Mr Palmer said.
“But in the dark Abbott government days it is around 12 per cent of GDP.
“It may not be the debt that is causing the problem.
“It could be the fact that the Liberals have lost the growth agenda.
“They have moved from the centre from protecting most Australians to a narrow view of persecuting most Australians.
“We have to grow our economy and create more jobs.
“We need to promote our industries and exports and reform our government systems.
“All areas of society must be accountable… not just me.”
