The electorate of Fairfax has gained an extra 291 aged care places in the latest Aged Care Approvals Round 2014, with an estimated value of $17.169 million dollars of approved funding from the Department of Social Services.
With the number of mature age individuals on the Sunshine Coast increasing, this is good news for the constituents of Fairfax.
Each applicant is subjected to rigorous assessment based on criteria prescribed in the Aged Care Act (1997). This year the department received two applications for every available residential care place and over seventeen applications for every home care place.
The following facilities have received these additional places:
- Mt Coolum Aged Care Services.
- Twin Waters Residential Care.
- Living Choice Manor Sunshine Cove.
- Regis Allora Lodge Allora Drive.
- St Mary’s Coolum Beach.
“These extra residential and home care places will certainly help meet the growing demand for aged care facilities on the Sunshine Coast,” said Member for Fairfax Clive Palmer.
“The facilities awarded this funding were assessed on the strength of their application, such as their ability to deliver care, management style, experience and expertise. This is a true indication of how advanced and professional the aged care industry is on the Sunshine Coast, so this recent announcement of funding for the electorate of Fairfax is an outstanding achievement for all concerned.”
