Constituents urged to identify road safety black spots

Federal Member for Fairfax

Media release

Fairfax constituents can help to make their community safer by identifying road accident black spots in need of safety upgrades.

Federal Government funding is available for eligible sites and anyone – groups or individuals – can put forward their suggestions for the black spots program.

Nominations for 2016 – 2017 funding will close on 31 July 2015. The nomination form, along with additional information, is available online at http://investment.infrastructure.gov.au/funding/blackspots/index.aspx

Federal Member for Fairfax, Clive Palmer, said the program is an important road safety initiative.

“It is very important we do all we can to reduce the road toll and safety upgrades to accident black spots are a vital component of that,” Mr Palmer said.

“I urge all members of the community who have concerns about dangerous locations or particular stretches of road to nominate those sites through this road safety program.”
