The federal leader of the Palmer United Party and Member for Fairfax, Clive Palmer, has today criticised Paul Murray after the shock jock played deceiving footage on his show of the Member sitting at the party’s budget response lunch.
Mr Palmer said it was disgusting to see such blatant misrepresentation of material.
“Paul Murray replayed footage of me sitting alone at a table in the empty Ballroom of the Hyatt Hotel in Canberra and claimed that no one showed up to the Palmer United Party’s budget response luncheon,” Mr Palmer said.
“This was a blatant misrepresentation designed to deceive and concocted from lies.”
Mr Palmer said in actual fact the Ballroom was filled to capacity with party members, invited guests, media and high profile attendees all joining Mr Palmer for the lunch.
“Almost 200 guests including Palmer United Party Senator Dio Wang and fellow crossbench senators Bod Day and David Leyonhjelm attended the lunch to listen to my response to the 2015 federal budget,” he said.
“Union officials including Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) president Ged Kearney and Community and Public Sector Union national secretary Nadine Flood also attended the lunch as well as Council of Small Business of Australia chief executive Peter Strong.
“For Paul Murray to say that ‘no one turned up’ and claim that not even Senator Dio Wang, is nothing but a blatant lie.
“Paul Murray is simply desperate for ratings. He is a liar and a speck in the political scene who does nothing but sit in his studio talking to himself with no audience.”
