Media release

Palmer United Party federal leader Clive Palmer has announced Queensland senator-elect Glenn Lazarus will lead the party in the Senate.

Mr Palmer said besides enjoying an illustrious rugby league career, Mr Lazarus has been an outstanding servant to the community.

“Glenn is highly respected amongst Palmer United Party members as well as the wider community,” he said.

“He is a role model to the party’s other senators-elect Jacqui Lambie and Dio Wang and also the politically aligned senator-elect Ricky Muir of the Australian Motoring Enthusiast Party (AMEP)

“Glenn was instrumental in the success of the Palmer United Party’s Queensland Senate campaign at the recent federal election poll and his Senate seat is testament to his ongoing commitment to Queenslanders and Australians.”

Mr Lazarus said the support the Palmer United Party received from the people of Queensland in the election was overwhelming.

“I am very humbled with the opportunity to represent the people of Queensland and I look forward to serving the state in the Senate to the best of my ability,” he said.

“In my role as Palmer United Party Senate leader I look forward to working with our party’s other senators-elect, Jacqui Lambie in Tasmania and Dio Wang in Western Australia, as well as AMEP senator-elect Ricky Muir in Victoria.

“The four of us represent a united front and together we will work with the Abbott government to achieve good government and get Australia back on track.”
