Nick Xenophon should be Nick Xenophobia: Palmer

Media release

Palmer United Party federal leader Clive Palmer has labelled South Australian Senator Nick Xenophon’s plans to legislate the disclosure of agreements between political parties as “hollow grandstanding”.

Mr Palmer said Senator Xenophon, whose proposed bill targets the agreement between the Palmer United Party and the Australian Motoring Enthusiasts Party (AMEP), should be working for the people of his state instead of playing political games and grandstanding.

“The people of South Australia have been waiting for Nick Xenophon to do something for their state for a long time and apparently, this pointless private member’s bill is his answer of trying to do something,” Mr Palmer said.

“What a waste of time. He’s doing nothing more than grandstanding to get a bit of media attention and it just highlights his complete lack of substance.”

Mr Palmer said the Memorandum of Understanding between the Palmer United Party and AMEP was confidential but would be revealed one day at the discretion of the parties, not at Senator Xenophon’s behest.
