More new hospitals needed, says Clive Palmer

Federal Member for Fairfax

Clive Palmer MP, Federal Leader of the Palmer United Party and Member for Fairfax, says he is a strong supporter of the new $1.8 billion Sunshine Coast Public University Hospital in Kawana.

Mr Palmer said it was the responsibility of all governments to ensure Australian citizens received quality health care without having to suffer the fragility of the current health system or the anxiety of lengthy waiting lists.

“I have said repeatedly that the greatest judge of a nation is the priority a government puts on its citizens and any new public health facility will be warmly welcomed by the community,” Mr Palmer said.

“We need a robust health system, more hospitals and more beds so Australians are cared for properly at critical times in their lives.

“Unfortunately, this view is not shared by Queensland Premier Campbell Newman and his government.

“They happily wave their flag about the new hospital on the Sunshine Coast, but they have sold the old Gold Coast hospital site at Southport and are treating the medical profession with contempt in their war with Queensland doctors,” said Mr Palmer.
