The Commonwealth must declare Tasmania a national disaster area and provide the state with massive support and financial assistance, says Palmer United Party federal leader Clive Palmer.
The federal Member for Fairfax said Tasmania desperately needed to restructure its economy and transport links to create more jobs.
“More than 20,000 Tasmanian families have an annual income of less than $23,000 a year,” Mr Palmer said.
“Tasmanian poverty needs urgent action to combat it. Labor and the Greens have locked up 51 per cent of the state from all economic activity.
“Successive Tasmanian governments have cheaply leased government vessels to companies giving them a monopoly over Bass Strait so they can squeeze the lifeblood out of all Tasmanians and suffocate the future of all Tasmanians.
“These companies in turn donate to Labor, the Liberals and the Greens. This is hush money that keeps the politicians quiet and stops them from carrying out their duty to the people who elected them.
“The elderly are frightened that they will die alone in their homes and their remains won’t be discovered for years. Crime and corruption prevail and urgent action must be taken now.
“The government has passed laws against the Australian constitution to denyTasmania the right to know the truth about their situation. All state politicians need to be removed from office on Saturday and the parliament needs to have a clean sweep.
“Only by voting for the Palmer United Party in Saturday’s election can Tasmanians enjoy good government that cares about them.”
