Federal leader of the Palmer United Party, Clive Palmer, has today clarified donations made to PUP at the last Federal Election.
“The most recent audit report for Queensland Nickel Pty Ltd was signed in September 2015 by audit firm Ernst & Young,’’ Mr Palmer said.
“The report confirms that Queensland Nickel was sound.
“Queensland Nickel is a 100-percent privately-owned company. If donations weren’t made to PUP in the relevant years, they could have been distributed to shareholders,’’ he said.
“It seems the major parties don’t mind if private companies donate to them but Labor and the Liberals don’t like it if private companies exercise their legal rights to donate to a different party.
“In the 2013 federal election the Liberal Party outspent PUP by over 300 percent.
“The two major parties don’t want competition from any group that is well funded and can put forward alternative ideas.
“News Corp continues to press a political agenda against me because unlike the journalists it employs I won’t be directed into doing what its American boss dictates.
“22,000 people have lost their jobs in the Queensland resources industry in last 12 months. News Corp coverage has been poor and the major parties’ response has been inadequate,’’ Mr Palmer said.
