Peter McLernon is a proud family man and Vietnam veteran who has run small businesses for over 40 years and knows what is required to provide vision and leadership within an organisation.
Peter has five children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is fourth generation Australian. He was born in South Perth, raised in Manning and has always lived in Perth. Peter is a vegetarian for health and ethical reasons. He is a powerlifter currently holding 15 Australian Masters records.
His grandfather was a former Deputy Commissioner of WA Police and Peter’s father fought in New Guinea with the AIF in the defence of Australia during the second world war. Peter served in Vietnam with the Fourth Battalion RAR in 1971/72.
On discharge from the army he played an important role in the establishment and running of the Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia (WA branch). He served in various roles on the committee for several years as a volunteer and assisted many veterans to obtain recognition and entitlements due to them.
Peter has served as a Councillor for the City of Melville for five years. He was chairman of the Technical Services Committee for several years during that time. He has served as President of a local Community Group and Branch President and Campaign Chairman for a political party.
Peter believes in a fair go for all Australians.
