Tanya grew up on a small farm outside of Thangool, with her two brothers and sister. After finishing Year 12 at Biloela High School, Tanya completed a hairdressing apprenticeship and opened her first business at just 19.
Tanya has two children, Jack 26 and Bonnie 24, who she has raised mostly as a single mother. She now resides in Gladstone, where she ran a successful business for over a decade before venturing into the training and assessment field.
In 2018 Tanya commenced a traineeship with Rio Tinto, hoping that this would widen her career and provide job security into the future. Tanya is still employed by the company but like many Australians, is now facing the uncertainty of vaccination mandates.
“I am extremely concerned about our country. My fears have led me to this point, where I feel it’s time to step up. We are rapidly losing our most basic human rights and the larger parties no longer stand for the values of everyday Australians,’’ she said.
