Praise for Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show Organisers

Federal Member for Fairfax

After officially opening the 2014 Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show last Friday at the Nambour Showgrounds, Member for Fairfax, Clive Palmer MP, has paid tribute to the show’s organisers who once again made it a weekend to remember.

Mr Palmer mingled, chatted and posed for photographs with show-goers on Friday afternoon before taking to the stage to deliver a speech to the large audience and declaring the show open.

“The Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show has been going strong for well over a century and is as popular today as it ever was. I really enjoyed having a look around and meeting many members of the community,” Mr Palmer said.

“I take my hat off to the organisers who have managed to fulfil the expectations of modern event-goers, but at the same time have retained the traditional ‘country feel’ which makes this show stand out from its peers.

“The volunteers who give their time to help present the show also deserve a big mention. They do a super job and deliver a great community event.

“Shows like this have an important place in our history and they should have an equally important place in our future. Shows are where the country meets the city and they celebrate the diversity which makes Australia unique as a nation.

“It’s always good to see lots of families enjoying a great day out and so many happy faces. There’s something for everyone at the show and long may it continue,” he said.
