Another exceptional young Sunshine Coast athlete has been rewarded by the Member for Fairfax, Clive Palmer MP, for his outstanding performance in the sporting arena.

Teenage cyclist Daniel Fitter has been recognised with a Sport Achievement Award for his recent triumph at the UCI track World Cup event in Guadalajara (Mexico) where he collected a gold medal in the men’s team pursuit final.

“Daniel Fitter is a young man with a great sporting future in front of him and is a worthy recipient of this Sport Achievement Award,” Mr Palmer said.

“He is clearly dedicated to his sport and focussed on being the best he can be. As an outstanding young athlete he is providing inspiration to many others, both in the Fairfax community and throughout Australia.

“I wish him every success for the future and look forward to hearing more news of his achievements in cycling.”

The Australian Government Sport Achievement Award was introduced in 2002 to recognise outstanding sporting performance, achievements and contributions by community members all over the nation.
