The Palmer United Party federal leader and Member for Fairfax, Clive Palmer, has congratulated Dio Wang on being elected to the Senate for Western Australia.

Mr Palmer said Mr Wang is the third Palmer United Party candidate to be elected to the Senate, joining Queensland Senator-elect Glenn Lazarus and Tasmania’s Jacquie Lambie. The three Palmer United Party Senators will work together and vote in line with Australian Motoring Enthusiast Party (AMEP) Senator-elect Ricky Muir.

“The WA Senate re-election results for the Palmer United Party were a tremendous achievement for our team of Dio Wang, Des Headland and Chamonix Terblanche,” Mr Palmer said.

“Dio will become a representative in the Senate less than a decade after he came to Australia from China.

“He arrived in this country with nothing but he has studied hard and diligently applied himself to his profession of engineering.

“Dio gave up his Chinese citizenship to build a life with his young family in WA and he has much to contribute to this country.

”As a federal parliamentarian, Dio’s experience and understanding of Chinese cultural issues will be invaluable.”

Mr Palmer said the Palmer United Party Senate group heralded a new era for the Australian parliament and national politics.

“We will be looking for common sense decisions that will benefit all Australians,” he said.

“It’s about having the right policy for all Australians and we need to unite for a better future.

“We want politicians to be more ready to forgive to forge a better and stronger Australia.”
